Ellmers votes for full repeal of Obamacare

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (N.C.-2) released the following statement this afternoon after voting for the full repeal of President Obama's healthcare law:
"This afternoon, I was proud to vote once again for the full repeal of Obamacare. Each day we receive new evidence showing that the Affordable Care Act will be anything but affordable. According to a new report by the Energy and Commerce Committee, 17 major insurance companies said healthcare for young adults will rise by 400 percent and employers can expect their cost to go up by about 50 to 100 percent. In North Carolina, our largest health insurer recently announced that a third of their customers should 'prepare for unusually large rate increases.'"
"People want more choice, and less federal mandates in their healthcare decisions. We must stop this law from inflicting enormous damage on our economy and start over with real reforms that will not raise premiums and cost our nation millions of jobs."
This afternoon, Congresswoman Renee Ellmers voted in favor of H.R. 45 - a bill she cosponsored to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. H.R. 45 is the third full repeal measure the House of Representatives will consider since President Obama signed Obamacare into law on March 23, 2010. In one of its first major legislative actions of the 112th Congress, the House first voted to entirely repeal Obamacare on January 19, 2012, when it passed H.R. 2 by a vote of 245-189. After the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the individual mandate last June, the House again passed another full Obamacare repeal when it passed H.R. 6079 by a vote of 244-185.
