Gary Joyner named chair-elect of Research Triangle Regional Partnership

Gary Joyner, managing partner of Kilpatrick Townsend’s Raleigh office, has been named chair-elect of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) board of directors. RTRP is the public-private organization that leads economic development for the 13-county Research Triangle Region of North Carolina.
The position puts Joyner in line to become board chair in July 2014.
“Gary Joyner is a true leader who clearly understands what it takes to create economic growth, in both rural and urban areas, and he has been integrally involved in doing that in this region for many years,” said RTRP President and CEO Charles A. Hayes. "Gary's knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as we execute our plan to remain one of the leading economic regions in the world.”
Joyner was named to the Triangle Business Journal’s inaugural listing (2012) of the Triangle’s Most Influential Business Leaders, selected as one of 100 leaders in business, education, philanthropy and government who “influence and impact” the Triangle.
His law practice focuses on commercial real estate and commercial lending. He advises clients on mixed-use, retail and residential real estate and infrastructure development, real estate acquisitions, sales and development joint ventures, and corporate and economic incentives.
Joyner has worked extensively in regional economic development, serving as Wake County representative to the RTRP board since 2004 and as past chair, executive committee member and vice president for economic development for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the boards of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, DHIC Corp. Wake Education Partnership, Habitat for Humanity, Triangle Community Coalition and Boys and Girls Club of Wake County.
Joyner holds a Bachelor’s of Arts degree (1979) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law (1982).
