Bulla joins N.C. State Fair staff to market horse facilities

Chris Bulla of Asheboro has been hired as an agricultural marketing specialist with the N.C. State Fair. She will be in charge of promoting and marketing the James B. Hunt Horse Complex and the three other horse facilities operated by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

“This position will focus on attracting new events and developing new sponsorship opportunities that will allow us to further improve these facilities for customers and visitors alike,” said N.C. State Fair Manager Wesley Wyatt. “Chris will be working with horse show promoters and potential business partners locally and nationally.”

The department operates horse facilities at the Western N.C. Agricultural Center in Fletcher, the Southeastern N.C. Agricultural Events Center in Lumberton and the Sen. Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston.

Bulla most recently served as the marketing and communications director for National AMBUCS, a nonprofit organization working to provide mobility and independence for people with disabilities. Prior to that, she was director of external affairs at Pfeiffer University. Bulla also has served as director of marketing and public affairs for the N.C. Zoo, executive director of the Randolph County Tourism Development Authority and marketing and Web development manager for the N.C. Zoo Society.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a minor in English.

Bulla started work July 1.
