U.S. Senator Kay Hagan, a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Development, released the following statement after the Committee reported to the full Senate Congressman Mel Watt’s nomination to serve as Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA):
“I’m pleased that Congressman Watt’s nomination has moved forward and can now be considered by the full Senate. I’m confident that as head of the FHFA, Mel will continue to champion policies that benefit middle class families in North Carolina and around the country. As we confront the challenges facing our recovering housing market, Mel’s background, skills and track record of bipartisanship make him an outstanding choice for this post. I hope my colleagues will join me in supporting his confirmation.”
