The 9th Annual Commissioner’s Food Safety Forum will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will host the forum, which will address the future of food safety with national food safety experts, congressional delegation, industry leaders, regulators, public health officials, emergency management and academia.

The Food and Drug Administration is accepting public comments on proposed rules coming out of the Food Safety Modernization Act. With sweeping reform coming to food safety regulation in the United States, join us as we discuss these proposals from the federal, retail, and farm-level perspectives.

Anyone interested in food safety is encouraged to attend and learn about these issues affecting food safety at all levels of the supply chain. In addition, producers can gather useful information that will help them become compliant with the upcoming regulations.

Admission to the forum is free, but registration is requested. You can register here. If you have additional questions, contact Chrissy Waggett at 919-707-3008 or Christina.Waggett@ncagr.gov.

The forum is sponsored by Publix, Walmart, the N.C. Egg Association, N.C. SweetPotato Commission and the Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.
