Purchasing your tickets in advance is the best way to save on admission and ride tickets to the 2013 N.C. Mountain State Fair. But even if you wait until the gates open Friday, Sept. 6, there are still plenty of ways to save through special promotions and discount days.

The popular Friday Night Frenzy is back for another year, offering fairgoers admission and unlimited rides for $20 on Friday nights. The promotion is available Sept. 6 and 13 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Ticket distribution for Friday Night Frenzy will be handled differently this year. In the past, fairgoers had to wait until 9 p.m. to purchase their tickets. This year, fairgoers will be able to purchase the special tickets all day Friday. The two-part ticket will include one admission ticket that can be used all day and a ride ticket that can be exchanged for an unlimited-ride hand stamp at designated areas on the midway after 9 p.m.

Drew Exposition will offer three additional unlimited-ride days during the fair. During those days, visitors can purchase a voucher good for unlimited rides throughout the day for $20. The cost does not include gate admission. The unlimited-ride vouchers are available for all visitors Sept. 9 and 12. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, unlimited-ride vouchers are available only for children ages 12 and under.

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the fair will host its annual Ingles Day. Visitors who bring five cans of Laura Lynn brand food to the fair will receive free gate admission. All food collected during the event will benefit the MANNA Food Bank. The nonprofit works with more than 230 partner agencies to provide food to 16 Western North Carolina communities.

In addition to these opportunities, fair organizers also are offering two opportunities for students and seniors to receive free admission to the fair. Students in grades K-12 can receive free gate admission on Friday, Sept. 6, until 6 p.m. Seniors 65 and older can receive free gate admission all day on Friday, Sept. 13.

The 2013 N.C. Mountain State Fair runs Sept. 6-15 at the WNC Agricultural Center. Tickets are on sale at the WNC Agricultural Center, WNC Farmers Market, area Ingles Stores and online at www.mountainfair.org.
