GENERAL: There were 5.6 days suitable for field work for the week ending September 1st, compared to 4.5 days for the week ending August 25th. Statewide soil moisture levels were rated at 9% short, 78% adequate and 13% surplus. Average temperatures still remained below normal for some areas of the state. Isolated thunderstorms brought rain in the western part of the state with some areas receiving over an inch of precipitation. The dryer conditions allowed for hay harvest to progress and to be baled.
