Officials developing rules on oil and gas exploration to meet in September

The North Carolina Mining and Energy Commission and several of its study groups and committees are scheduled to meet in September to continue developing a modern regulatory program for oil and gas exploration.

The September meetings are on the following schedule:
•        Sept. 5, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Committees of the N.C. Mining and Energy Commission are scheduled to meet in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building, 512 North Salisbury St., Raleigh, on the following schedule: 8:30-10:30 a.m., Water and Waste Management; 10:30 a.m.-12:30 pm., Administration of Oil and Gas; 1-2:30 p.m., Environmental Standards; 2:30-5 p.m., Rules. The committees were created and staffed by members of the full commission to address specific issues such as handling wastewater during natural gas extraction and the establishment of rules to protect the environment and property rights.

 
•        Sept. 6, 9 a.m.-completion: N.C. Mining and Energy Commission meets. Then, 15 minutes after the commission adjourns, the Coordinated Permitting Study Group meets. Both the commission and study group meet in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building, 512 North Salisbury St., Raleigh. At the same time the Coordinated Permitting Study Group meets, the Protection of Trade Secrets and Proprietary Information Study Group meets in Room 742A (7th floor) of the Archdale Building in Raleigh.


•        Sept. 26, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Committees of the N.C. Mining and Energy Commission are scheduled meet in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building, 512 North Salisbury St., Raleigh, on the following schedule: 8:30-10:30 a.m., Water and Waste Management; 10:30 a.m.-12:30 pm., Administration of Oil and Gas; 1-3 p.m., Environmental Standards; 3-5 p.m., Rules.


•        Sept. 27, 9 a.m.: The full North Carolina Mining and Energy Commission is scheduled to meet in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building, 512 North Salisbury St., Raleigh. Other groups of the Mining and Energy Commission may meet Sept. 27. If other meetings are scheduled, a list of times and dates will be added to the commission’s schedule of meetings, which can be found at
