The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 761, the National Strategic and Critical Minerals Production Act of 2013, by a vote of 246 - 178. H.R. 761 requires the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture to more efficiently develop domestic sources of the minerals and mineral materials of strategic and critical importance to United States economic and national security and manufacturing competitiveness.

The House passed H.R. 3102, the Nutrition Reform and Work Opportunity Act of 2013, by a vote of 217 - 210. H.R. 3102 strengthens program integrity so that federal nutrition programs serve those in need of assistance. The bill encourages and enables work participation, makes common-sense reforms, closes program loopholes and cracks down on waste, fraud and abuse in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) saving the American taxpayer nearly $40 billion.

The House passed its version of the continuing resolution, H.J. Res. 59, by a vote of 230 - 189. H.J. Res. 59 makes continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2014.

Also on Friday, the House passed H.R. 1526, the Restoring Healthy Forests for Healthy Communities Act, by a vote of 244 - 173. H.R. 1526 restores employment and educational opportunities in, and improve the economic stability of, counties containing National Forest System land, while also reducing Forest Service management costs, by ensuring that such counties have a dependable source of revenue from National Forest System land, to provide a temporary extension of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000, and for other purposes.
