The House today voted in favor of a continuing resolution to keep the government funded through December 15, while at the same time defunding Obamacare.  U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) voted in favor of the measure and issued the following statement:

         “We, meaning House Republicans, have done the responsible thing by approving this continuing resolution to keep the government funded through mid-December.  At the same time, we have stopped the money flowing to the inaccurately-named Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.  

         “I would prefer that we fund government programs through the regular legislative appropriations process, but with the end of the fiscal year facing us soon, passing a short-term, stop-gap budget is better than allowing much-needed government programs and services to be shut down.  

“Today’s bill funds the government at the current budget level of $986.3 billion and adopts the Full Faith and Credit Act, which I cosponsored.  This will ensure that the White House will not be able to enact scare tactics with the elderly and the disabled by falsely claiming that their payments will be in jeopardy. I urge our colleagues in the Senate to pass this bill as soon as possible – the clock is ticking.”
