Former USDA official joins meat industry association staff

Bill Sessions, former associate deputy administrator of USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service’s Livestock and Seed Program, has joined the staff of the North American Meat Association.


NAMA announced Sessions joins the association team as project manager and technical representative. In this role, he will manage NAMA’s contract with the Beef Promotion Operating Committee (BPOC) for veal marketing, issues management and quality assurance.


Since retiring from USDA in 2011, Sessions has been a consultant to a number of livestock and meat firms. Over his 37-year career with USDA he was responsible for managing programs that included meat grading and certification, auditing, federal meat and fish purchases, country of origin labeling and many issues related to marketing, research, promotion and food safety.
