Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement from her office in Washington this afternoon:

"Congressman Howard Coble has been many things over his historic career in Congress, but I have always regarded him as a trusted mentor and beloved friend. Howard has been the Dean of our North Carolina delegation for years and was one of the first Members to reach out to me when I first came to Washington. Our offices have shared a unique and personal bond ever since, and I have been truly honored to represent the counties of Moore and Randolph - which Howard represented with honor and passion for years."

"This is the end of an era here in Congress, and the beginning of a new journey for our beloved friend. I wish Congressman Coble a long and relaxing retirement and will forever be indebted for his friendship, guidance, and service to our country."
