GENERAL: There were 5.7 days suitable for field work for the week ending November 17th compared to 5.9 for the previous week. Statewide soil moisture levels were rated at 2% very short, 31% short, 65% adequate and 2% surplus similar to last week’s levels. The state received little precipitation again this week. Average
temperatures stayed below normal for another week as well with the averages ranging from 37 to 53 degrees. Another week of dry conditions helped with small grain plantings allowing this year’s progress to exceed last year’s and the 5-year average for wheat, barley and oats. In addition, the dry conditions allowed sweet potato and peanut harvest to wrap up in most areas and soybean harvest to move in-line with previous year and the 5- year average. Cotton harvest still remains slightly behind last year and the 5-year average
