The Piedmont Triad Farmers Market will be dedicated in honor of the late Sen. Robert G. Shaw during a public ceremony. The market, one of four state-operated farmers markets, was renamed for Shaw during this year’s legislative session.

Shaw served nine terms in the state Senate from 1985 to 2002, and was instrumental in the creation of the market. He died in 2012.

Comments will be made by Dr. Richard Reich, assistant commissioner of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; Reps. John Faircloth and John Blust; and Guilford County Commissioner Linda Shaw, the senator’s widow.
