Tyson Foods is on schedule to expanding its animal welfare requirements to include the company’s beef and chicken suppliers, a spokesman confirmed for Meatingplace.

Tyson's FarmCheck program began with pork in October 2012 and outlined plans to apply similar requirements to beef and chicken suppliers by January 2014.

"We’ve been conducting pilot audits and are developing finals for both species, so we’re on track to launch them next month," Spokesman Worth Sparkman said in an emailed statement.

The FarmCheck program provides a third-party auditor to check compliance.
