NC crop and weather report for the week ending Dec. 8

GENERAL: There were 3.8 days suitable for field work for the week ending December 8th compared to 38 for the previous  week ending December 1st. Statewide soil moisture levels were rated at 7% short, 76% adequate and 17% surplus. Most of the state received rain during the week with many areas receiving between a quarter to an inch of precipitation and a few areas receiving over an inch. Average temperatures were significantly above normal. The average temperatures ranged from 45 to 59 degrees. The continued rainfall further slowed harvest in most areas with cotton, soybeans making less than a 7% increase in harvest percentages. Hay cutting was affected the most with no gains realized. Hay supply is rated mostly
adequate at this time.
