David Rouzer has a 55%-19% lead in the Seventh District Congressional Primary race, according to a Public Opinion Strategies poll released today. The poll, conducted January 20 and 21, shows Rouzer is leading challenger Woody White by 36 points (55% - 19%), has a name recognition of 85%, and has an excellent 47% favorable/ 9% unfavorable rating among primary voters across the district.

Rouzer leads handily and enjoys strong name recognition in both the Wilmington and Raleigh media markets. In Wilmington, White's home media market, Rouzer leads White by 19 points (47%-28%) and has a name recognition of 87% compared to White's 67%. In the Raleigh media market, Rouzer leads White 71%-4% and enjoys a name recognition of 86% compared to White's 18%.

"The results of this poll reflect what we've heard around the district - voters in Southeastern North Carolina are ready for the fresh ideas and energetic conservative leadership they know David Rouzer will bring to Washington," said Campaign Manager Tyler Foote.

Rouzer, who narrowly missed defeating retiring Congressman Mike McIntyre in 2012, has strengthened the strong base of support he began building during the last election cycle with intensified social media and grassroots activity. The poll finds that key primary groups flock to support Rouzer, including a 59%-18% lead among strong Republicans, 60%-14% advantage among conservatives, and 57%-18% lead among high interest voters.
