GAP Certification Training

If you are planning to raise tobacco this year, you will need to be GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certified. This certification started in 2013 and is required to sell tobacco with or without a contract.

There are two classes you will need to take. The first will be in Greenville, TN (204 North Cutler Street, Suite 105, Greenville, TN) on Monday, February 17 at 6 p.m. You need to call 423-798-1710 if you plan to attend. Eddy Labus, Watauga County Cooperative Extension will be taking the van and leaving at 3:45 p.m.; please call 828-264-3061 if you would like a ride. The second part of the training will be Thursday, February 20 from 7-9 p.m. at the Agriculture Conference Center in Boone. Call 828-264-3061 to register.

You must attend BOTH trainings to be certified. If you were certified last year, you will need to be recertified and the meeting in Greenville will qualify. There will not be any of these trainings in the future that will be this close.
