UNC-TV’s North Carolina NOW has aired the first in a series of stories about the history and programs of N.C. Cooperative Extension’s centennial. The March 27 episode features former N.C. Gov. Jim Hunt, Almanac Gardener Mike Gray and Associate Extension Administrator Fletcher Barber of N.C. Agricultural and Technical State University. The story describes how Cooperative Extension grew out of the 1862 Morrill Act that created land-grant universities and how Extension used communications to reach key audiences throughout the 20th century.
