The N.C. Board of Agriculture will meet at 2 p.m. April 9 in the Martin Building at the State Fairgrounds. The meeting is open to the public.

The agenda includes the following items:
•      Consider approving permanent rules setting a fee of $8 for waste-sample analysis by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Waste analysis helps growers make responsible decisions about the use of farm, municipal and industrial wastes and their byproducts as fertilizer for crop production. The board approved the fee as a temporary rule last year.
•      Codify existing admission policy, prices and operating hours for the N.C. State Fair. The fair’s admission prices and operating hours will remain the same as last year.

The Board of Agriculture is a policymaking body that adopts regulations for many of the programs administered by the NCDA&CS. Members are appointed by the governor. The commissioner of agriculture serves as chairman of the board.
