McIntyre announces $25 million for Lumber River EMC

U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre (NC-7) announced today that Lumber River EMC has been awarded $25 million in federal funds.  The federal guaranteed loan, administered through USDA Rural Development, will help Lumber River EMC to serve 3,836 consumers, build and improve 205 miles of line, and make other system improvements.

           Congressman McIntyre stated, “This is a great day for the families, communities, and businesses of Eastern North Carolina!  This strong federal investment will help create economic opportunity right here at home and provide safe, reliable electric service to thousands of consumers! Congratulations to all the fine folks at Lumber River EMC and thank you for your tireless service to our area.”

          Congressman McIntyre is a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee and Co-Chairman of the Congressional Rural Caucus.
