Source: MEATINGPLACE, 5/23/14 Virginia’s Pittsylvania County has been awarded a state grant to study how best to attract integrated poultry companies to the area. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office announced the $10,000 grant for the feasibility study, which aims to identify companies that are considering expanding, how and where a poultry complex could be located and what attributes of an area are attractive to the industry.
The data will be used to develop a marketing strategy for inviting an integrator to southern Virginia, the governor’s office said. Money for the grant will come from the governor’s Agriculture & Forestry Industries Development Fund.
