McIntyre announces $520,000 for Johnston County water infrastructure project

U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre (NC-7) announced today that Johnston County, North Carolina has received $520,000 in federal funds to develop water infrastructure projects and create jobs in the local area.

         Congressman McIntyre stated, “This is fantastic news for the families, communities, and businesses of Johnston County! Congratulations to all those who worked to secure these funds. This investment will create economic opportunity right here at home and provide clean water to support our booming biotechnical industry. I’m thrilled that your taxpayer dollars are making a difference and creating jobs in Johnston County.”

McIntyre stated that Congress has appropriated, and the United States Economic Development Administration has awarded a $520,000 grant to support Johnston County’s rapidly growing biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. This investment will construct improvements to the capacity of the Johnston County Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in order to create a better business environment and attract more small businesses to the area, boosting the region’s economic growth. In total, this project will create 110 jobs and leverage an additional $102 million in private investment.

        Congressman McIntyre is the Chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Rural Development.
