N.C. Energy Policy Council, committees to meet July 9

The North Carolina Energy Policy Council will meet at 1 p.m. July 9 in the William G. Ross, Jr. Environmental Conference Center on the fourth floor of the Nature Research Center, 121 West Jones St., Raleigh.

Selby Bush, senior government affairs representative for Williams/Transco Pipeline, will be speaking to the council on natural gas and pipeline expansion. The council also will hear a presentation from Don van der Vaart, Energy policy advisor with the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan proposed rule. The proposed rule would be part of the federal Clean Air Act.

Each committee of the Energy Policy Council also will meet in July at the times and locations listed below:  

•        Long Range Energy Generation and Renewable Energy Committee 
9 a.m. July 9 in Room 1210, Green Square, 217 West Jones St., Raleigh

•        Energy Exploration Committee 
11 a.m. July 9 in Room 4001, Green Square, 217 West Jones St., Raleigh

•        Energy Efficiency Committee
10 a.m. July 15, Room 4001, Green Square, 217 West Jones St., Raleigh

•        Emergency Energy Committee
1 p.m. July 17 in the Media Briefing Room in the North Carolina Emergency Operations Center, 1636 Gold Star Drive, Raleigh
