The Food and Drug Administration on Monday released its National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System 2011 Executive Report, showing both increasing and decreasing antimicrobial resistance trends.

The report, established in 1996 as a partnership between the FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, tracks antibiotic resistance in foodborne bacteria.
