State Farmers Market to host Grape Day Sept. 5

September is North Carolina Wine and Grape Month. In celebration, the State Farmers Market will host Grape Day, sponsored by the N.C. Muscadine Growers Association. Vendors will have a selection of local muscadine grapes, jellies and wines available for sample and purchase. In addition, there will be a display of harvest equipment and information on the state’s wine and grape industry.


Participating vendors are Adams Vineyard, Cauble Creek Vineyard, Cottle Farms, D’Vine Foods, Duplin Winery, Foster Family Harvesting, Gregory Vineyards, Hinnant Family Vineyards, N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, N.C. Muscadine Growers Association and N.C. State University.

North Carolina ranks 10th in the nation in both grape and wine production, and is home to more than 140 wineries and 400 commercial grape growers. The state’s wine and grape industry has grown significantly in recent years. It now employs more than 7,600 workers and has an economic impact of nearly $1.3 billion.
