A number of government online directories provide farmers a free marketing tool as consumers increasingly turn to the internet to search for products and services.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has launched a directory to help consumers find CSAs, roadside stands, farmers markets and farms selling directly to the consumer.

The USDA directory provides vital information about listed enterprises, including a mapped location, operating hours, months of operation, the types of products available, number of farmers at each market and the accepted forms of payment.

You can add or update your listing online. The N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services offers several directories for farmers to list their businesses that can be reached through the Got to Be NC website:

Goodness Grows in NC/ Got to Be NC members can list their products/livestock by category in The General Store. (Membership is free and the application is available on-line.)
