With some of them wearing his trademark colorful jackets, the North Carolina congressional delegation will take to the House floor tonight to honor retiring U.S. Rep. Howard (R-NC).  Congressman Coble, who has gained fame for his madras jackets, will be retiring at the end of his 15th term.

The delegation has reserved an hour of time following votes tonight for what is known as a “Special Order.”  Many members of the delegation, from both parties will take to the House floor to honor Rep. Coble on his 30-year House career.

The Special Order will take place immediately following the five recorded votes.  The Special Order will start at approximately 7 p.m.  Congressman Coble does not know about the tribute being planned or that his colleagues will be donning his colorful attire.

At the beginning of the session, as the dean of the North Carolina congressional delegation, Rep. Coble will introduce Alma Adams of Greensboro, who will be sworn-in as the 13th member of the delegation to fulfill the unexpired term of Mel Watt.

Note:The Greensboro Historical Museum has asked Congressman Coble to donate his jackets to their collection upon his retirement.
