The midterm election season is over and Congress began the lame duck session. I want to update you on some of my recent work for Eastern North Carolina.

I called on the Obama administration to stand up for U.S. fisherman and fight for an increase in quota for western Atlantic bluefin tuna at this month's meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).  After years of steep quota reductions, U.S. bluefin tuna fishermen have more than done their part to let the stock regenerate.  The economic costs to them, their families, and the communities they support have been severe.  The science says the stock is fully rebuilt, and I'm happy to report that after I sent my letter to the Obama administration, ICCAT raised the quota for western Atlantic bluefin tuna.
