WEATHER SUMMARY NOVEMBER 2014: The state received below normal precipitation while temperatures stated close to average during the month of November.  Farmers spent much of their time harvesting cotton, soybeans and sweet potatoes and planting small grains. As of November 30, statewide soil moisture was rated at 1% very short, 9% short, 80% adequate and 10% surplus.  

Cotton production on December 1, 2014 is estimated at 990,000 480-pound bales, up 29% from the 766,000 480-pound bales produced in 2013.

• Corn $4.15 per bushel • Cotton  $0.635 per pound • Soybeans $10.70  per bushel


CHICKEN EGGS South Atlantic Region: Broiler-Type eggs in incubators on November 1, 2014 totaled 240,764,000. The total was up 3% from the November 1, 2013 total of 234,243,000 eggs. The total number of egg-type eggs in incubators on November 1, 2014 increased 2% from 4,636,000 eggs in 2013 to 4,732,000 in 2014.
