Eastern North Carolina update with Congressman Walter B. Jones

The new year has started and I want to update you on some of my work for Eastern North Carolina.
• This month I voted for the Save American Workers Act to restore the 40 hour work week that was slashed to 30 hours a week by Obamacare. Americans in Eastern North Carolina and across the country have lost their jobs and been kicked off of their health care plans because Obamacare reduced the work week. Obamacare does not enable freedom, it stifles it. That's why I voted against it each time it was considered in the House and why I have cosponsored every bill aimed at repealing or defunding the law. I will continue to do everything I can to end this unconstitutional government takeover of our healthcare system and its disastrous effects on our economy.

• I also voted to defund President Obama's amnesty for over 4 million illegal aliens. President Obama's illegal amnesty is an outrageous overreach of executive authority and a slap in the face to the millions of law-abiding, out-of-work Americans and legal immigrants who are trying to bounce back in this sluggish economy. I have consistently voted to stop illegal immigration into this country and will continue to do everything I can to defend our borders and protect American citizens from being displaced by illegal aliens in the workforce.

Once again, I voted for the Keystone XL Pipeline Act to allow construction on the pipeline to begin without approval from President Obama or other members of the executive branch.  The State Department asserted last year that the project will have no significant impact on the environment.  This legislation is about creating the thousands of jobs that the current administration has denied the American people.  It is about growing the economy at a time when the country's finances are suffering.
