Governor McCrory announces energy, coastal appointments

The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:
Energy Policy Council
John Brodman (Carteret County) – Brodman served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Energy Policy, Office of Policy and International Affairs, the U.S. Department of Energy from 1981 to his retirement in 2006.
The council’s purpose is to advise and make recommendations to the governor on increasing domestic energy exploration, development and production within the state and region to promote economic growth and job creation. The term length is three years.
North Carolina State Board of Refrigeration Examiners
Timothy Welch (Surry County) – Welch is the owner of Frank Welch & Sons Co., Inc.
The board licenses refrigeration contractors. The term length is seven years.
North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching
Julie Terry (Bertie County) – Terry is a guidance counselor at Bearfield Primary School.
Linda Daves (Randolph County) – Daves is a retired school teacher.
Kwan Graham (Mecklenburg County) – Graham is director of Parent and Charter School Advocacy for Parents for Educational Freedom in NC.
Elaine Boone (Yancey County) – Boone is a retired teacher and serves on the Yancey County Board of Education.
Members shall have full authority regarding all aspects of employment and contracts for the NCCAT in accordance with State Personnel policies and contract procedures. Among other duties, the Center provides career teachers with opportunities to study advanced topics in the sciences, arts and humanities to engage in informed discourse. The term length is four years.
North Carolina State Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators
Dawn Wilson (Moore County) – Wilson is CEO and administrator of St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines.
Jon Renegar (Buncombe County) – Renegar is the medical center administrator for Carolina Village Inc.
Craig Miller (Chowan County) – Miller is a retired health care management executive.
The board’s purpose is to develop, impose and enforce rules and regulations setting out standards which must be met by individuals in order to receive and hold a license as a nursing home administrator. The term length is three years.
North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission
Gwen Baker (New Hanover County) – Baker is president of the federal programs group at CDM Smith.
Janet Rose (Currituck County) – Rose is a teacher with Currituck County Schools. She owns Paul Rose Seafood.
William White (Bertie County) – White is president of Miller & White Real Estate & Forestry Inc.
The commission is responsible for preparing and adopting rules that establish guidelines for the coastal areas. The term length is four years.
