Cooperative Extension holding Regional Ag Summit in Lucama on March 12

NC Cooperative Extension in Wilson, Johnston, Wayne, Greene, Pitt, Edgecombe and Nash counties will hold a Regional Ag Summit in partnership with the Wilson Chamber of Commerce and the Wilson Economic Development Council on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Scott Farms, 7965A Simpson Rd, Lucama, NC  27851.  Registration will begin at 9:30 AM and the program will begin at 10:00 AM.

The summit will improve awareness of agriculture and agribusiness in the region and will highlight the economic impact of this industry.  In addition, the event will showcase cutting edge agricultural technology.  The program will include Mr. Steve Troxler, NC Agriculture Commissioner; Dr. Richard Linton, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State University; and Dr. Blake Brown, Hugh C. Kiger Professor in the Agricultural and Resource Economics Department at NC State University.  There will be a tour of Scott Farms new sweet potato packing operation, a GPS auto steer tractor demonstration and new technology used with curing tobacco.  Lunch will be provided.
