USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued an update to the Export Requirements for Meat & Poultry Products.

On its website, the agency noted that because of the existence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in some parts of the country, certificates that state that California, Oregon, Washington state, Minnesota and Idaho are free of HPAI cannot be endorsed. Neither can certificates that state that the country as a whole is free of HPAI.

FSIS said it is updating the individual country export requirements as soon as it gets information from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
