A Japanese pork producer group says it could live with a 50 percent reduction in import tariffs to help Japan reach an agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, according to a report by Bloomberg. The Japan Pork Producers Association said it could accept a cut to as low as $2 per kilogram from a maximum of almost $4 per kilogram, the group’s managing director, Hisao Kuramoto, is quoted as saying.
