Missouri lifted its restrictions on the movement of poultry around quarantine zones in Moniteau and Jasper counties established a month ago when H5N2 avian influenza was confirmed at turkey grower facilities.

Tests showed no further spread of avian influenza, and the quarantine affecting the movement of poultry and poultry products within 6.2 miles of the affected facilities was lifted, the Missouri Department of Agriculture said.

In Kansas, orders restricting movement of poultry and poultry products around quarantine zones in Cherokee, Crawford, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties also were lifted this week following negative tests, the Kansas Department of Agriculture said.

The quarantine zones were established to help contain the spread of avian influenza as it hit the center of the country.
Outbreaks continued this week, with commercial turkey flocks in South Dakota and Minnesota becoming the latest confirmed cases.
