Butterball facility hits milestone

Employees at Butterball’s Mount Olive, N.C., facility recently achieved a milestone in workplace safety by working 3 million hours without an Occupational Health and Safety Administration recordable lost-time injury, the company announced.


Butterball’s Mount Olive location is the largest turkey manufacturing facility in the United States and employs approximately 2,800 people.


The plant adopted standards developed by the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program to create its successful safety program.


Butterball’s enterprise-wide recordable injury rate is consistently 50 percent better than the poultry industry average, the company noted in a news release.
