AgCarolina Farm Credit announces the graduation of the 6th Annual Ag Biz Planner participants.

Participants in the Ag Biz Planner program came from five Farm Credit associations throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. Of the 30 participants in the program, graduates from within the AgCarolina Farm Credit territory were Andy House of Selma, Frank Scott of Lucama, Irv Smith of Clayton, and Thomas Webb of Stantonsburg.

The Farm Credit University (FCU) Ag Biz Planner program is the creation of Dr. David Kohl, a retired Virginia Tech agricultural finance and business management expert.  Dr. Kohl teaches young, beginning, and small farmers new business skills to successfully manage and grow their agricultural operations by first creating an in-depth business plan.

Along with online coursework, participants work with an AgCarolina Farm Credit loan officer who serves as a mentor.  Mentors provide guidance to participants as they work through the course and create a business plan for their given operation.

“AgCarolina is proud to participate in the AgBiz Planner program.  Being able to work with farmers who are developing their business plans gives us an opportunity to share our expertise in agricultural lending.” says Dave Corum, AgCarolina’s President and CEO. “AgBiz Planner is a great way to acquire useful financial and business management information for anyone’s farming operation.”

AgCarolina Farm Credit is a farmer owned financial cooperative with headquarters in Raleigh. They are the leading provider of credit to farmers in central and eastern North Carolina.
