Poultry producers throughout the Midwest are being hit by a widespread outbreak of bird flu that has resulted in the death of almost 7 million birds since March. The spread of the deadly H5N2 virus, which can decimate a flock within 48 hours, was found this week in a commercial facility in Iowa — more than doubling the number of birds destroyed so far across the United States.
