The state Senate gave tentative or final legislative approval to more than a dozen measures Thursday. Among the most noteworthy:House Bill 716 would help Duke Energy convert its Lake Julian power plant in the western part of the state from a coal burning facility to natural gas. The project also will include solar generating capacity.
