The move toward antibiotic-free poultry will arrive on a college campus in Massachusetts next month as part of an existing partnership between UMass Dining and the NatureRaised Farms division of Tyson Foods.

The University of Massachusetts-Amherst Dining Services will begin serving no-antibiotic-ever chicken in all of its retail and residential foodservice operations, according to the school’s News & Media Relations office. The program is in response to a 2015 survey of 4,000 UMass Amherst students who stated a preference for responsible food sourcing and will involve more than 750,000 pounds of chicken and turkey annually, a news release stated.

The UMass Dining system is the nation’s largest school dining program, serving 45,000 meals daily or 6 million meals per year. More than 18,000 people participate in the services meal program at four residential dining facilities and more than 30 retail locations on campus.
