In June, I voted against legislation that would repeal country of origin labeling (COOL) for beef, pork, chicken, and

ground meat and poultry products. This bill was a slap in the face of American consumers. We want to know where our food

comes from, plain and simple. If the ground beef at our grocery store comes from China and Mexico, we want to know it.

This bill would take that information away from consumers, and it's just not right. Unfortunately, the bill passed the House despite my opposition.

This month, I'm calling on the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council to reconsider proposed 2016 harvest reductions for summer flounder. The summer flounder stock is fully rebuilt and unnecessary reductions in commercial quotas will economically damage fishermen and fishing communities. I'm also calling on the feds not to overregulate the spiny dogfish. The stock has grown and is being responsibly maintained.
