Ellmers to meet Thursday with small business owners to discuss harmful healthcare tax
Story Date: 8/20/2015

Source: US Rep. Renee Ellmers (NC-2), 8/19/15

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers will attend a roundtable discussion at the Apex Chamber of Commerce and hear directly from small business owners about the harmful impact of the health insurance tax as implemented through the Affordable Care Act. During this roundtable, the Congresswoman will discuss her efforts to repeal this tax through her co-sponsorship of H.R. 928 and other Congressional initiatives to bolster small businesses. This roundtable is hosted in conjunction with the Apex Chamber of Commerce and the Stop the HIT Coalition.

BACKGROUND: North Carolina is home to more than 819,000 small businesses, which employ more than 1.5 million workers. The Health Insurance Tax (HIT), as applied through the Affordable Care Act, will amount to $159 billion in new costs – fees that will almost entirely be passed on to small businesses.

This event is OPEN to the press.
