The Renaissance Community Co-operative has taken some important steps toward opening a new grocery store in one of the city’s worst food deserts. But it still faces challenges before it’s ready for business. At a joint meeting of co-op organizers and the Citizens for Economic and Environmental Justice on Monday night, Michael Valente was introduced as the store’s general manager.
