WNC AgOptions is offering grants between $3,000 and $6,000 to western North Carolina farmers in 2016 to offset the cost of testing new crops and other innovations with funding from the N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. The application deadline is Nov. 13. Applicants should contact their N.C. Cooperative Extension agents by Oct. 16 to set up an appointment to discuss their projects.

Organic growers in North Carolina can apply for partial reimbursement of the cost of organic certification, or recertification through a program offered by NCDA&CS. Growers who are certified or recertified between Oct. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015 are eligible for partial reimbursement, up to $750. Applications are due by Dec. 1 to Heather Barnes. Her mailing information is: Heather Barnes, 1020 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, 27699, or
