The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in collaboration with USDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), plans to hold a jointly sponsored public meeting to obtain input on possible approaches for collecting additional on-farm antimicrobial drug use and resistance data, according to a notice in the Federal Register.

The agencies seek the data to better evaluate the effect of measures being implemented to foster the judicious use of medically important antimicrobial drugs in food-producing animals.

The meeting will be held September 30, 2015, in the USDA Jefferson Auditorium in Washington, D.C. Registration is required. To provide oral comments, register by September 18. Public comments will be accepted until November 30.

The September meeting is consistent the National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-resistant Bacteria, unveiled by the White House in March.
