The N.C. Board of Agriculture will meet by conference call Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. to consider a referendum request from the N.C. SweetPotato Commission.

The meeting is open to the public. Interested individuals can listen to the meeting by coming to the Hall of Fame Room at the Agriculture Building, 2 W. Edenton St.

The commission is requesting the board’s approval to conduct a referendum among sweet potato growers in North Carolina. Growers would vote on whether to continue an assessment, based on sweet potato acreage, to support promotion of the commodity. If approved by the board, the referendum would take place in January.
