WHO/WHAT: The State Farmers Market will celebrate the bounty of N.C. apples with its annual Apple Day. During the event, visitors can enjoy a free apple dessert prepared by the State Farmers Market Restaurant, or shop for a variety of fresh-from-the-farm apples. Apple Day is sponsored by the N.C. Apple Growers Association, State Farmers Market Restaurant, State Farmers Market and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

MORE INFO: North Carolina is the 13th-largest producer of apples in the nation. In 2012, the state grew 34 million pounds of the fruit. The State Farmers Market offers a large selection of agricultural products grown, raised, caught and made in North Carolina. In addition to apples, other fall produce such as grapes and pumpkins are now available. The market also has a variety of plants, shrubs and trees for fall plantings.
