Dear Friends,
This week, the House passed a temporary spending measure until a final budget agreement can be reached.  I voted against this bill because it would maintain taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

I have always been opposed to using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion providers or organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, that advance pro-abortion agendas.  In fact, just last year, Planned Parenthood received a record $528.4 million in taxpayer dollars.

The idea that taxpayers who are opposed to the killing of unborn babies are forced under law to fund abortion providers, like Planned Parenthood, is contrary to basic moral sensibilities.  And, our recent understanding of Planned Parenthood’s utter disrespect for human life exemplified by videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing how to properly harvest and preserve the limbs and organs of aborted babies prove that the time for action has never been more urgent.

Therefore, I have cosponsored several bills, signed onto numerous letters and voted for legislation to prohibit tax dollars from going to Planned Parenthood and other programs that fund abortion.  And, as I made clear to leadership weeks ago, I will not waiver on my commitment to oppose any spending bill that continues to fund Planned Parenthood or other abortion providers with your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

Bottom line: Life is precious and deserves to be protected, and certainly we shouldn’t be forcing taxpayers to fund what many of us find to be morally objectionable.

I stand firm to help protect every life and will work to ensure that reckless organizations that promote abortion agendas do not continue to receive your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
