RAISE Act Passes the House
Our nation's secondary markets have tremendous potential as a source of much-needed capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, outdated laws have prevented this resource from being utilized. That changed this week as the House passed legislation I introduced called the RAISE Act. This bill--which passed the House Financial Services Committee 58-0 and cleared the House 404-0--codifies into law a frequently utilized exemption allowing secondary markets to be used for capital formation. It is an important change ensuring entrepreneurs have the capital they need to grow their businesses.

Lifting the Oil Export Ban
This week, the House acted to lift a relic from past years by passing H.R. 702, legislation ending the decades-old ban on the export of crude oil. This common-sense, bipartisan measure has the potential to reduce gas prices, create jobs, and grow the American economy. I was proud to support this legislation which is estimated to add nearly $1.5 billion to the U.S. economy over the next ten years while also creating almost one million jobs.

Another Obamacare Repeal Signed Into Law
I'm frequently asked why I continue to vote to repeal the President's healthcare law and the answer is simple: it is a broken law that is bad for the American people. Additionally, many of these repeals have worked, a fact proven again this week as President Obama signed into law the PACE Act, legislation exempting small businesses from some of the law's most onerous requirements. The PACE Act is the tenth House-originated bill that President Obama has signed into law that changes, repeals, or amends parts of Obamacare. While I remain fully committed to repealing the entirety of this law, this incremental progress is an important and necessary first step in that effort.
